Farquhar, Gladys (Nan) Marion
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Nan Farquhar. She died Sunday May 12, 2019 in her 86th year surrounded by those who loved her. Nan was a dedicated mother, loving sister and great friend to many. She cherished her husband George who predeceased her by several years. Nan was greatly loved by her sons Edward (Ann), and Michael and her predeceased son Stephen (Debra). She was a beloved grandmother to Caitlin (Alex) and Bradley… Read More » (Stacey), and great-grandmother to Claire, who will all miss her. Nan was the oldest sister of the family who helped to maintain close and loving ties among her brothers and sisters, Walter (deceased), Robert, Sandra, John, Kate, and Mike. Her many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews hold many fond memories of a favourite Auntie. Nan will always hold a very special place in all our hearts.
Nan was well known by her ever-present smile and willingness to help in any way she could. She was talented in so many ways: an excellent seamstress; a good cook, a wonderful hostess… she loved people and always brought out the best in them. Nan was a long-time member of the Knox Presbyterian Congregation, where she was active in the Church Choir and Volunteer Association. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and her many friends.
Visitation will be held at KITCHING STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N, Waterdown on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 80 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. As expressions of sympathy donations to Knox Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family.
