On May 12, 2019, LAWRENCE WILLIAM TABLER passed away at the age of 81 years at the Rimbey Hospital.
Lawrence was born June 16, 1937, the first child of William and Alma Tabler of the Falun area.
Lawrence was big brother to Leonard, Eleanor and Marvin. He attended the Bidinger school and at a young age showed great skill in all things mechanical. In his teens he left the family farm to work in the oil and gas industry and logging industry in northern and central Alberta. He worked as a mechanic on Vancouver Island as well before coming back home to haul water and operate heavy equipment. He then started up his own company Tabs Backhoe Services and was a very hard-working man.
Lawrence liked a good party and loved music and dancing. He learned to play the fiddle, banjo and acoustic guitar. He loved golfing, a good bon fire, playing crib and a good long visit.
In December 1976 Lawrence married Virginia Ann (Morrison) Crawford. He became stepdad to Virginia’s two children Tracy and David Crawford. In 1982 Amelia (Amy) Rachelle Tabler was born and sadly passed away four short months later. Lawrence and Virginia divorced and in 1990 Lawrence met is ex-common law partner Dolly Killaly
Lawrence is survived by his sister Eleanor (Art) Westendorf; brother Marvin; sister-in-law Gloria (Ellis) Tabler and stepchildren Tracy and David and their mother Virginia Crawford. Many nieces and nephew and great nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents Bill and Alma (Ansorger) Tabler; his daughter Amelia (Amy); sister-in-law Lorna (Holmlund) Tabler; and his brother Leonard Tabler.
Lawrence was a well-liked man and will be missed by many.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Tuesday May 21st, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Falun Community Hall. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West Pine Lodge in Winfield, the Waldheim Cemetery, the Alzheimer’s society, or charity of your choice.
