Obituary for John Banks
John Hugh Banks, born on October 30, 1936 at Sarnia General Hospital, passed away at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health, Petrolia on Friday May 17, 2019. After finishing high school at SCITS, he then worked for Canadian Oil in the lab. Shell purchased Canadian Oil in 60’s and John finished his education at Lambton College and became a chemical technologist with Shell. John was married to Shirley (nee Fowler) for over 50 years until her death in 2010. John and Shirley had a son Christopher (wife Jean Marie) and a daughter Elizabeth (husband Jim). He had five grandchildren Jacob, Kennedy, and Madaleine Banks, and Zackery and Sydney Shortt. John met Ruthy Bright at Boomers and have been together since may 2013. John was predeceased by two siblings, a brother Peter and a sister Doreen. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Hillsdale Cemetery in Petrolia.
