Obituary for Eileen Marie Carrigan
Having spent a full rewarding life as a consummate caregiver in her role as a nurse, midwife, daughter, friend, aunt and sister, Eileen passed away peacefully surrounded by love on May 7, 2019 in Hamilton, ON. Eileen touched countless lives as she worked and travelled in the UK, Australia, New Mexico and finally finishing off an outstanding career in Labour & Delivery at McMaster Hospital. Eileen was much admired for her extensive knowledge, generosity of spirit, sense of humour, patient focused care and gift for mentorship. Friends and family received her unconditional love, encouragement and council. She was an example for many on how to live a life to the fullest, bringing joy to every occasion and provide a sense of security knowing she had your back in any situation. In the end, Team Eileen came together to provide Eileen with the kind of support and love she found so easy to give and a bit harder to receive. She was a perfect angel of a human being in life, now she will be the angel we feel in our hearts forever more. Eileen was predeceased by her father Douglas Carrigan and mother Jacqueline Carrigan. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Biz (Barry), and Joan (Richard), brothers Eugene, Dan, and Pete, and nieces Erin (Pierre), Sam, and Natalie (Chris). We wish to thank the incredible team of medical support that came together for Eileen. First and foremost Dr. Kate Prangley, Juravinski Cancer Centre, the palliative care team from VON, St. Elizabeth’s, CBI and the LHIN. Memorial donations can be made to VON Hamilton, or The Wellwood Cancer Support. A Celebration of Life will take place at Circle of Life, 100 King St. E, Dundas on Thurs. May 16 at 2:00 pm. Officiated by Shelley Hamilton. (additional parking at the Air Force Club).
