Christine Hather (age 76), widow of the late Bernard Hather passed away May 14th, 2019 at the Dauphin General Hospital lovingly surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her son Bernie Hather of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Christine was predeceased by husband Bernard (1997), her daughter Tina (2009), her father and mother Gideon and Marie Lavallee of Duck Bay, her brothers Albert and Joe Lavallee and sister Yvonne.
Left to morn are her son Bernie, her niece and nephew Caroline and Daryl and close family friend Candace, brothers Edward (Marlene), Freddy and sisters Olive, Marilyn (Walt), Lorraine and numerous nieces and nephews.
Christine was born in Winnipegosis, MB, raised and educated in Duck Bay with her siblings. She left Duck Bay to work in Winnipeg where she met the love of her life Bernard. They were married on October 5, 1968 and raised 2 children. They resided in numerous places and after the passing of her husband finally settling in Dauphin, MB where she worked and finally retired.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, watching her tv shows Survivor and Swamp People which if where on, she could not go out for coffee with her friend Candace. She spent her time in Dauphin going to watch the dance competitions, the downtown festival and the horse shows at the fair. She would often enjoy going to the birthdays and christenings of the children of her nieces Cynthia and Michelle. She would also spend time with her nephew Daryl and visit her sister Olive in Winnipeg. Her travel bug was sparked; with her first ever trip to Las Vegas which included her going through the badlands of the Dakotas, the highway drive over Beartooth Mountain in Montana; enduring the snowstorm and buffalo road blocks of Yellowstone National Park to get there. From her seeing the giant redwoods of California, a ride through Death Valley in Nevada, a fall drive through the Great Smoky Mountains, searching for shark teeth at Myrtle beach South Carolina to seeing the White House or the Hope Diamond in Washington DC. Time was always found to visit the casinos of the region.
Prayers Services will be at Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre on May 22nd 2019 at 7 p.m. with a small lunch afterwards.
Burial Service will be at Duck Bay St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery on May 25th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
