Memorial Donation
In loving memory of Thelma Dorothy- Mae Wikiruk. The family announces with sorrow, her passing, following a courageous battle with diabetes and cancer, on Saturday, April 20th, 2019 at the Espanola General Hospital. Beloved wife of Orville Wikiruk, 63 years. Born in Whitney, Ontario, May 28th,1939 to Trueman and Emma-Mae Caverley (nee Laundry). Youngest daughter of 17 siblings (all pre-deceased). Proud mother of Cindy Mullen (Jack) of Espanola, Danny Wikiruk of Sudbury and Shelley Wikiruk (Leo Belanger) of Espanola. Grandmother of Michael Mullen (Kerri), Susan Mullen (Jeremy Ryan), Riley Belanger (Nadia), Sarah Belanger (Cody). Great-grandmother of Nicole, Ashley and Jack Mullen, and Eric Vanier.
Tillie was a devoted employee of the Espanola General Hospital and Manitoulin Centennial Manor (30 years in total). Many will remember mom for her laughter and love of helping patients of any age.
Mom’s passion was bingo and playing endless card games with her dear girlfriends over the years. She took great pride in family and was devoted to ensure her family’s needs were always a priority. She was the backbone of our family and taught each of us the importance of strength and passion.
Mom enjoyed 30 years at one of her favourite spots, Sand Bay. Over the years she developed lifelong friendships. She always called a spade a spade and everyone always knew where they stood with her.
Mom, our hearts are heavy and you have left us with so many cherished memories. Until we meet again mom, rest in peace. Forever loved but never forgotten.
Immediate family will have a graveside service on Friday, May 24th at 11 a.m. A celebration of mom’s life will follow at Sand Bay family park on Agnew Lake on Saturday May 25, 2019 at 1 PM. Family and friends are welcome to stop by at Sand Bay to share memories. If so desired, Memorial Tributes may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
