Ronald Ron J Roy 19322019

Ronald «Ron» J. Roy
1932-2019
It is with heavy hearts that the
family announces the death of Ronald (Ron) J Roy, who passed away the
morning of April 24th at the Oromocto Public
Hospital after a courageous and tenacious battle with
Alzheimer’s. Ron departed this world peacefully
surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April
26th, 1932 in Richardsville, New
Brunswick.
Ron leaves behind Georgette, his
best friend and wife of 63 years; their six children, Lynn
(André) Chenard, Marc (Debbie) Roy, Nancy (Sam) Carr, Steve
Roy, Craig Roy, Allan (Juliette) Roy; grandchildren, Michel (Jill)
Chenard, Eric (Florence) Chenard, Josée (Brent) Paisley,
Denis (Sacha) Chenard, Matthew Roy, Natalie Roy, Alex, Joshua
& Joe English, Nicolas & Kevin Roy and Sarah Shaw. He
also leaves his cherished nine great-grand children; several nieces
and nephews; as well as his brother, Maurice Roy and sisters, Jackie
Mayo and Doris Barriault. He was predeceased by his parents Hector and
Albertine, his brother Henry and two sisters Hectorine Law and Stella
Johnston.
Ron & Georgette travelled
extensively and spent the last 18 years wintering in
Florida. Ron and his family moved to Fredericton in 1971,
where he began his career with the Department of Tourism. He
was a long time member of the Epsilon Y’s Men Service Club
and a member of the Fredericton Golden Club.
Ron’s greatest joy was
spending time with his family. He loved playing the guitar
and singing with his son Marc as well as spending time with his
friends. Ron was a handyman who loved woodworking and helping others
renovating and building. His hobbies were golfing and
bowling.
Throughout the course of his
illness, Ron never lost his sense of humour and amazing gentle
heart.
Visitation will be held at
McAdam’s Funeral Home at 160 York St. Fredericton on Friday,
April 26th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass
will take place on Saturday, April 27th at
11:00 am at Ste-Anne-des-Pays-Bas at the corner of Regent and
Priestman streets.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended
from the family to the nurses and medical staff at the Chalmers and
Oromocto Hospitals. The staff at the William Duffie and
Palliative care units truly went above and beyond for Ron and the
family during a very difficult time and they will never know how much
they eased our pain. We would like to acknowledge Dr. Leclerc who
provided much support, kindness and compassion.
A very special thanks from all the
family to Frances Pond, Ron’s caregiver of the last four
years.
Donations to the
Alzheimer’s Society or the Fredericton Homeless Shelters
would be greatly appreciated.
