On April 10th we said farewell to Lucy, an amazing wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, following a lengthy and courageous journey with cancer. Leaving to mourn her husband Willie, and their three wonderful sons Paul and his wife Susan and their children Liam and Leah, Neal and his wife Gillian and their children Evey and Eli and Mark and his wife Amy and their children James and Mary. Also leaving to mourn her mom Betty, sisters Margaret Best (Ralph), Florence Harvey, Barbara Croft (David), Gloria Maher (Jim), and Theresa Alyward (Paul) and brothers , Jerry (Bonnie), Brian (Gail) Martin (Valeeta), Tim (Val) and Wayne (Cathy Anne). Also her in laws Marian MacDonald (K.D), Doreen Williams (Billy), Jimmy (CarolAnn) and Donnie along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and special friend Janice Harrigan. Pre-deceased by her father Martin Walsh and her in-laws Mary and Wilfred Costello.
We are left with many wonderful memories of Lucy’s kindness toward us all and her contribution to her community of Fermeuse where she spent her whole life.
A very special thanks goes out to her cousins Virginia Pennell and Georgina Walsh who took such amazing care of Lucy at her home in Fermeuse. We all took great comfort knowing that Lucy was under your incredible care and for that we are eternally grateful.
We also express out thank you to the Hematology/Ambulatory Treatment departments at HSC/Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre and the transplant team in Halifax. She knew all of you by your name, where you came from, and who you were related to, and she truly appreciated all your efforts in her health management.
Cremation has taken place .
Please join us as we remember and celebrate Lucy’s life at Fahey’s Funeral Home in Fermeuse on Saturday and Sunday, April 13th and 14th from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral service to be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Fermeuse at 11:00 am, Monday, April 15th.
Donations in Lucy’s memory can be made to St. Charles Borromeo Church Committee or the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Caul’s Funeral Home , 84 Lemarchant Road, St. John’s and Fahey’s Funeral Home , Fermeuse.
