Lillias Nafine Bolton
1949-2019
Lillias Nadine Price Bolton passed at her Somerville home on April 18,
2019 … after a long battle with cancer. She bore her final
illness with a patience and courage that was inspirational to us all.
Born in Moncton on March 25, 1949, she was the daughter of Wornick
Price and Lillian Steeves. Both her Price and Steeves families were
pre-Loyalist settlers in New Brunswick.
She is survived by her husband Stephen, a son Andrew (Georgette) of
Calgary, and a daughter Amanda (Sebastian) of Fredericton. She is also
survived by a brother Wornick Price of Salisbury, NB and a cousin
Joanne Barnett of Halifax.
She will also be greatly missed by her brothers and sisters in law,
Jim Bolton (Marie) of Dow Settlement and Paul Bolton (Rhonda) of
Hartland … plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She was good with needle and thread and over the years was active in
quilt, knitting, and sewing guilds wherever she lived …
including the Woodstock Quilt Guild, Kennebecasis Valley Quilt Guild,
the Tuesday night Woodstock Knitting Group. She was president of the
volunteer’s auxiliary at the Central Carleton Nursing Home,
where she also quilted to raise funds for the auxiliary. She
can’t remember how many quilts she made or helped with, but most
went to hospice, hospitals and charity.
She was a member of the United Empire Loyalists’ Association of
Canada and was active in the New Brunswick Branch while she lived in
Saint John. She was a graduate of the New Brunswick Teachers College
and The University of New Brunswick.
Nadine was also a member of the Saint John based DeLancey’s
Brigade; a Revolutionary War re-enactors group and had an interest in
18th century clothing. She kept DeLancey’s cannon in her
basement for years and could tolerate musket fire, but she drew the
line at sleeping in straw in a canvas tent.
Visitation will be held at the Britton Funeral Home, 2 High Street,
Hartland on Sunday, April 21, 2019 from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral will
be held at the Britton Funeral Home on Monday, April 22nd at 1:00
p.m. with Pastor Dan Austin officiating. A reception will follow the
service at the Hartland Baptist Church, 349 Main Street, Hartland. A
private interment will be held at the Hay Settlement United Church
Cemetery. If so desired, donations can be made to the David Suzuki
Foundation, Nature Conservancy of Canada, Ecojustice, Canadian
Wildlife Federation or Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society.
