Lee’s Obituary
Lee Reed, long time resident of Sunset House, Alberta passed away suddenly 03 April 2019. Lee was Born 06 December 1944 in Barrhead, Alberta, the third eldest son of Bessie and Allan Reed. He attended schools in Barrhead and grew up on the farm with his brothers and sisters. He, along with 2 friends, found a chassis and a motor, built a wooden cab and box and presto we had a car to drive the mile to meet the school bus.
As a young man Lee as an equipment operator and truck driver hauling logs in the winter, gravel in the summer.
In 2000 he moved to Sunset House to farm with his brother Darrel. He liked operating the equipment, the cows not so much. He had a big heart, was always quick to offer a helping hand. Lifetime friendships were developed. Lee always stayed in touch. Every niece and nephew knew Uncle Lee. Even the cats and dogs received his attention. He enjoyed his “Missy cat” immensely.
The past few years, suffering from chronic pain, he was not able to work like before. The little silver car he had would head down the road to see what was happening and bring home the news. Lee could strike up a conversation with anyone and often did.
You are so loved, our brother, and missed so very, very much. Darrel and Lorraine, Ken and Joan, Joy and Bruce, Shannon and Frank, Lee’s many nieces and nephews, and friends will be having a celebration of his life at Barrhead in June of 2019.
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
