Obituary for
Jim Laniuk
It is with great sadness that the families of Jim Laniuk announce his passing on April 10, 2019, at the age of 82 years.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Louise (Richard) Chomlak and Olga (Phil) Uniat; brother, Stan (Florence) Laniuk; nieces and nephews, Wayne (Lois), Joan (Brian), Alan (Joy), Daniel (Madeleine) and Connie (James); long time friend, Mary Chubay and her children, Randy (Cathy), Marlene (Garry) and Leanne (Darcy); grandchildren, Ashley, Stacey, Brittany, Dustin; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Harlow and Taylor. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Mary Laniuk; brothers, Tom Laniuk and Billy Laniuk; and two nephews, Brian and Dennis.
Jim always enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing and travel, and had a big love for skiing! Jim had a loving way with children. He had a great love for life, was a really good guy and touched many people’s lives. He will be dearly missed by everyone. Thank you to the staff of West Country Hearth and Miller Crossing Care Centre where Jim had resided for six years after his injury accident. A special thank you to the staff of the 2nd floor unit at Miller Crossing Care Centre for your compassion and caring for Jim in his final days.
Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Wednesday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton with interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, College Plaza, 8215 – 112 Street, Edmonton, AB T6G 2C8.
