Obituary
ARAUJO, Jeremias (October 26, 1937 – April 15, 2019)
Jeremias passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 15th, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Loving husband of the late Candida (Rebelo DeSa) and cherished father of Odelta (David), Mary (Gary) and Ana (Don). He leaves five grandchildren: Stephanie (Marcio), Candida, Hayden, Ethan, Lauren and four great grandchildren Gabriella, Victoria, Michaela and Julia. He also leaves his sister Conceicao. Jeremias was predeceased by his parents, Mariano and Maria de Jesus (Cabral) and his brothers Joao, Manuel and his sister Lurdes. Jeremias (with his wife and daughters) left Sao Miguel, Acores and came to Canada in 1972. He worked at St. Michael’s hospital for over 25 years. He was a kind, hard working, loving man with a wicked sense of humour. He loved his pets, gardening, making his own wine, singing Fados and making memories at Cedar Beach. His love for his family was endless and he will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Aleen Hussain, his caregivers, his nurses and the staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital for their endless dedication and compassion. Above all, the family is grateful to his daughter Mary who fully dedicated herself to ensure that the last few years of his life were all that they could be, surrounded with love, dignity and respect.
Family and Friends may pay their respects on Friday, April 19th 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Cardinal Funeral Home, (Bathurst St.) Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 20th at 9am St. Mary’s Church (Bathurst St.) Interment at Prospect Cemetery (Rogers Rd). Brunch at Mandarin Restaurant, 1027 Finch Ave. W. In remembrance of Jeremias, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Canada.
