Passed away, peacefully, with her loving daughter Rebecca by her side, on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Wilma Olive (Herman) Young, a former longtime resident of Quarter Town Line Road, Tillsonburg in her 89th year. Born in South Middleton Township, daughter of the late George Herman and the former Evelyn (Greenland) Herman (both of Delhi). Predeceased by her loved husband Carl Earl Young (Sept 11, 2007). Wilma was a wonderful, welcoming, joyous person who once owned and operated Wilma’s Beauty Shop, Tillsonburg for 27 years. Wilma participated and gave back to her community and proudly served with the TDMH Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Br. #153, Tillsonburg Ladies Auxiliary and she especially worked hard at her church home of Avondale United Church, Tillsonburg through her ardent participation as a Life Member with the Avondale U.C.W. and the Avondale Church choir. Past member of The Bridges Golf and Country Club. She was well liked by her many friends. “She never had anything bad to say regarding anyone.” Wilma will be dearly missed by her loving daughter: Rebecca Listar (Hearn), of Collingwood; by her granddaughter Aimee Listar and great-granddaughter Avery Taylor Chapman and her father Chris Chapman. Survived by a step-daughter Kathy Young, of Grimsby. Also survived by her brother David Herman (late Connie), of Aylmer; and by her sister Gertrude (‘Gertie’) Fewster (late Carl), of Woodstock. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by five brothers: Victor, Leland, Bob, Phillip, Howard and by two sisters: Bernice and Mildred.
In keeping with Wilma’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends, former neighbours and relatives are invited to attend a time of visitation on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at Avondale United Church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm (service time). A Complete Celebration of Life Service of Remembrance will be held on March 30th at Avondale United Church at 1:00 pm, by Pastor Paul Robinson, of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Tillsonburg. Memorial donations to the “Avondale United Church,” or to “Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation,” or to “V.O.N.
