Sebastiano Costa
Sebastian, born on October 8, 1936 (Cardinale, Calabria, Italy), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12th at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family.
Beloved husband of Antonia for 55 years. Loving father of Carmela (Daniele) Manarin, Joe (Paula), Nick (Maria). Wonderful Nonno of Julia, Alison, Madeline, Emily, Megan, Isabelle and Nickolas Sebastian. Will be greatly missed by his sister Stella (Salvatore), his brother Salvatore (Maria) and many nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own children. Predeceased by his sister Elisa (Giorgio) and his brothers Giovanni (Catherine) and Bruno.
Sebastian immigrated to Canada at the young age of 17 in 1953. From humble beginnings, his strong work ethic resulted in a very successful career at Maher Shoes, where he managed multiple stores.
With determination and perseverance, he took the next step in his business career and opened his first of three shoe stores starting in 1968. In addition to his prosperous shoe business, he would also go on to various investments in real estate and other ventures.
Sebastian was also respected for his active involvement in the Church, Italian cultural clubs and charitable organizations. He loved making wine and tending to his garden, but his greatest passion in life was his immediate and extended family and his friends. For the sharing of his time, energy and counsel they will forever be grateful.
