SURETTE, Joseph Edward (Sgt. Ret’d) ~ Age 79, South Greenwood, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Morris Island, he was a son of the late Frederick and Rose (Muise) Surette. Joseph served for 32 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, with various postings across Canada. He retired as an airframe technician with the rank of Sergeant. Joseph enjoyed carving and had belonged to a local carving club. Surviving are his wife the former Partricia E. Haydock; daughter, Christine (Doug) Oliver, Middleton; son, J. Mark Surette (Donna Richardson), Montreal, Que.; grandsons, Scott and Neil; sister, Margaret Surette, Yarmouth; brothers, Nelson (Eileen) Surette, Tusket; Ricky Surette, Yarmouth; sister-in-law, Betty Surette, Yarmouth; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Anne (Sonny) Comeau; brothers, Ronnie in infancy and Amos Surette. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Donations in his memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.
