Obituary of John Forster
John R. Forster, 76 of Port Williams, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2019 in his home. Born on February 19, 1943, in Romford, England, he was the son of the late Robert and Rosetta Forster.
John moved to Canada in the 1960’s, shortly there after he met and married his beloved Arlene Johns on October 11, 1969. Although John did not particularly like going to flea markets, he loved Arlene and travelling with her to the many flea markets and yard sales she enjoyed. John spent most of his career in sales, creating a very social man that enjoyed meeting and talking to new people. John liked comedy movies, and had a great sense of humour; with all his great qualities, John was very well-known in Nova Scotia’s Valley area. John was a family man and loved every chance he had to see his granddaughter, Jessica. He also jumped at any chance he had to walk or look after his son’s, Jeff, dog Miko.
John enjoyed sports and was a die hard Acadia Hockey Axemen fan. He was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Maple Leafs and loved watching soccer. Some of John’s hobbies included playing cribbage most weekends and bowling in a league before the New Minas Bowling Alley closed.
John is survived by his sons Jeff (Cathy) Forster and Mike (Jen O’Connell) Forster; granddaughter Jessica Forster; brother Jim (Jacqueline) Forster of England; sisters Gwen (George) Tucker of England; Lillian Morrison of Australia; nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his loving wife, Arlene; brothers Arthur, George and Ken.
Memorial donations, in John’s memory, may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de John
