William “John” Leslie Campbell
Passed away peacefully on February 7, 2019 at Carleton Lodge, Ottawa, On. He was born on October 13, 1934 in Flesherton, On. Beloved husband of the late Isabel (Ostrander) and loving father of Bob, David, Mary (Naciuk) and Andy. Adored by grandchildren Tiffany, Rani, Michelle, Thomas, Duncan, Douglas, Emma and Rowan. He was brother to the late Agnes (Field), late Jim, Margaret (Forbes), Glen, Olive (Ellis), Joan (Sewell), Edward Lemmon, and Beverley McInnis. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces and served with the Queens Own Rifles of Canada. After the armed forces John served as a police officer for the Brampton City Police, Chief of the Elmira Police Force and then various duties with the Waterloo Regional Police. He was a past president of the Elmira Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and a member of the Lions Club.
Funeral Arrangements
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. Donations to Wounded Warriors Canada would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
