Obituary of Florence Cochrane
Age 88 of Hantsport, died peacefully on January 31, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born in Wentworth, Hants County on April 10, 1930 to the late Frank and Stella (Fletcher) Phillips.
Florence worked as a House Mother to the nurses at the Payzant Memorial Hospital.
Then she went on to work as a Nurses Aid, working at the Payzant Memorial Hospital and the Hants Community Hospital for 29 years.
Florence enjoyed knitting and baking, which she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends. She was Mom and Grammy to her kids as well as every kid in the community. She was loved and respected by all.
Florence enjoyed Camping at Fox Mountain Campground. She was always looking for a new team to beat at Washer Toss, the game she loved most. She also loved playing crib and 45’s, bowling and the Seniors Games. Florence will be remembered for her big heart full of love for family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Owen Rupert Cochrane; daughter, Wanda (John) Starratt, Edmonton, AB; sons, Tony (Patricia), Kingston; Tom, Bishopville; Toby, Waseca, SK; Mike (Karen), Hants Border; Peter (Joy), Hantsport; Mark, Grand Prairie, AB; sister (second daughter), Dianna (Bob) Skuffham, Windsor; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Florence was predeceased by sisters, Virginia Bulger and Joan Warner; brothers, Harry “Had”, Ryle, Herbert “Herb” and Walter “Wad”; and daughter-in-law, Karen Mack.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff of Medical B at the Valley Regional Hospital.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St. Windsor (902-798-8317). No visitation or funeral by request. There will be a celebration of Florence’s life on Wednesday, February 6, at Churchill House, 6 Main St., Hantsport from 2 – 6 pm.
