Emily Rudy
July 1, 1931 – February 18, 2019
Emily Rudy of Yorkton, SK and formerly of the Stenen District, SK, passed away at the Preeceville and District Health Centre on February 18, 2019, at the age of 87 years.
Emily was born July 1, 1931, to Walter and Mary (Lukianik) Kaminsky on a farm north of Stenen, SK. On July 14, 1949, Emily was united in marriage to Marvin Rudy and they began their lives together on the family farm. After a couple months, Emily and Marvin moved to Toronto, ON, where they stayed for about 46 years. Emily was employed at G.E. Canada until her retirement.
After Marvin’s passing in 1995, Emily continued to live in Toronto for the next five years, prior to relocating to Yorkton, SK. Emily became a resident of the Preeceville and District Long Term Care Unit, where she continued to reside until her passing on February 18, 2019. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace and her memory be eternal. Emily was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Rudy; parents, Walter and Mary Kaminsky; brothers, Metro and Ed; sisters, Margie Pawliw and Mary Rudy; brothers-in-law: John Rudy, John Kurulak, George LaRoche and Ernie Pawliw; and one nephew and two nieces. She is survived by her sons, Marvin Jr. (Audrey) Rudy of Yorkton, SK and Melvin (Colleen) Rudy of Wasaga Beach, ON; daughter, Marianne (Steve) Rudy-Geleynse of Windsor, ON; seven grandchildren: Shaun (Elvira), Megan, Adam, Jaimie (Dan), Carla (Nathan), Sarah and Shannon (Jason); eight great-grandchildren: Trisha, Brittany, Chelsea, Tyson, Kaelum, Leila, Coral and Lou; two sisters, Anne LaRoche of Preeceville, SK and Ella Kurulak of Nanaimo, BC; two sisters-in-law, Mary Kaminsky of Stenen, SK and Mabel Kaminsky of Prince Rupert, B.C.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In Emily’s honour, a Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2019, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Rev. Fr. Michael Faryna officiating. Interment will follow in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Emily Rudy.
