«Corn», age 66, Upper South River passed away peacefully at
home on Sunday, February 17, 2019 with his family by his
side.
Born at St. Martha’s
Hospital on October 8, 1952 he was the son of the late Martin and Anna
(van Haare) van den Heuvel.
All his life, Corn was actively
involved in farming. Each year he looked forward to raising turkeys
and doing his delivery run with Bill and Bo. He had a great love for
hockey and was a proud supporter of Bulldog and St. F.X.
Hockey.
He leaves behind his loving wife of
forty-six years, Heather (Brophy); children: Martin (Arlene) and their
children Abby and Lily; Pat (Carrie) and their children Aidan, Ethan
and Ella; Jamie (Jana) and their children Charlie and Elsie; Tony
(Lori) and their children Allie and Shawn; special sister in law,
Donna Brophy and her children Alise, Ashley, Roddie and Heather Marie
(Veronica); brothers: John, Antigonish; Herman (Anne), Mabou; Peter
(Elizabeth), Pomquet; sister: Rickey (William), Goshen; Toni (A.J.),
St Joseph’s; Mina (Lawrence) Loch Katrine and many nieces
and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased
by sister Tena (Tommy) Landry and nephew Joe
Bellfontaine.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry
Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Wednesday from 7 to 9
pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be in St.
Andrw’s Church, St. Andrews on Friday at 11:00 am with
Reverend Donald MacGillivrary presiding.
