Gurr, William Peter (Bill)

Our husband, father, brother, uncle, papa and great-papa passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family. Bill was in his 77th year and had fought against leukemia courageously for the past year. Preceded in death were Bill’s parents Doris (Banks) and Reginald Gurr and three sisters Marguerite McKendrick, Irene Southorn, and Barbara McGuire. Bill was born and raised in Weston Ontario and moved to Brantford in 1974. Left to mourn is Carol (Daniels) Bill’s wife of 55 years, daughter Corrinne Radlo, son Bill (Sandra), all of Brantford, and daughter Michelle Grimwood (Jonathan) of Calgary. He will be missed by his six grandchildren – Eric Gurr, Alicia Gurr (Josh Tinson), Brandon Radlo, Taylor Radlo, Samuel Grimwood, Fionian Grimwood and great-grandchild Maverick Tinson. Saddened are Bill’s sister Doris Gyorffy (Robert), brother-in-law Jim Daniels (Diana), many nieces, nephews, friends and Godson Taylor Batchelor. Also deeply affected are Bill’s closest companion Rick Yeowart and dear friend Don Distasi (Kate). Bill’s careers were many and varied beginning with his enlistment in the Canadian Army Medical Corp (1961) and ended when he retired from SC Johnson after 26 years of employment (2000). Bill had a passion for bass fishing, could work magic with wood, was a master with a paint brush and most importantly he provided to everybody with warmth and love. Almost any sport related program (Toronto teams preferred) or a CFRB talk show could stop Bill from constantly moving and maybe finish a Tim Horton’s coffee. The doctors, nurses and medical staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the Brantford General Hospital and Stedman Community Hospice and Dr. Gerard Quinn deserve our deepest gratitude and respect for the comfort and care they gave to Bill. Please join us in celebrating Bill’s life and accomplishments at the Charing Cross Reception Suites adjacent to the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross St Brantford, on Saturday March 2nd 2019 from 2-5p.m. Donations appreciated on Bill’s behalf to Lansdowne Children’s Centre, Stedman Community Hospice or Juravinski Cancer Centre.
