Mom was born February 25, 1933 and died January 24, 2019 at the Halifax Infirmary after a lengthy illness She was born in Montreal and was the daughter of the late Agnes (Hollis) and Cecil Pasmore. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Dr. Gilles Ernest; survived by brother, Ralph (Leona) Pasmore; her four children Mark (Debbie Ross), Valerie (Jim Jewkes), Lise, and Gail (Elwood MacMullin); and her seven grandchildren Justin and Nicolas Blair, Gillian and Amy MacMullin, Zachary Jewkes, Ashley and Gage Bisson. Mom will always be remembered for her great sense of humour. She loved reading and was extremely well traveled, venturing into Russia in the mid-‘60s and China in the early ‘70s. She graduated from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing (Montreal) in 1955. In her 40s, she continued her education at Mount St. Vincent University, completing her BA in English in 1980. She later returned to part-time nursing at the Motherhouse at the Mount. She was actively involved with the IWK gift shop (The Gift Horse) and Kermesse, and was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the nursing and medical staff of the Neurology Unit at the Halifax Infirmary and to the nursing staff of Parkland Clayton Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the IWK or St. Andrew’s United Church. A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place Friday, March 1, 2019 at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, from 2 -4pm, with remarks at 2:15.
