Obituary for Archie Hoven
With his family by his side on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Trillium Villa Nursing Home, Sarnia, ARCHIE HOVEN passed peacefully in his 100th year. Beloved husband and best friend to Maxine Hoven (nee Melton) for 40 years. Loving father to Pat (Jim) Joy and the late George (2006) (Kathy) Hoven, Doug (Mary) Melton, Chuck (Cindy) Melton and Patti (Stuart) Boynton. Proud grandpa to Mike (Karen) Hoven, Brian (Kandy) Hoven, Ryan (Katie) Joy, Travis Joy (Candice Clark), Brett Melton (Allison Simpson), Erin (Houston) Gojmerac, David Melton, Katie Melton, Scott (Samiha) Boynton, Mark Boynton (Lisette Mena), Stuart (Maxie) Boynton, and great grandpa to 16. Survived by sister-in-law, Joyce Finlayson. Predeceased by his parents Edmond and Eliza Hoven, and his wife Marion (nee Finlayson, 1975). Archie was the oldest union member of Painters and Decorators, Local 1590 (67 yrs). He was a devoted Toronto Blue Jay and Maple Leaf fan – an avid ball player in his days. He loved bowling, golf, cards and loved to dance – never lost faith in the Petrolia Jets. Archie was a quiet, placid gentleman. The family would like to thank all who assisted Archie through his difficult times – CCAC, VON and Dr. Greensmith. Archie was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Petrolia branch 216. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. Philip’s Parish, 515 King St. Petrolia. Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wyoming.
