Obituary of Verna Simms
Verna Jean Simms -passed peacefully away into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, January 6th, 2019 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, in Grand Falls-Windsor, with her loving daughters at her side. Verna aged 66 years was born February 16, 1952 in Twillingate, NL to the late Walter Shea and Daisy Rideout.
Leaving to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Andrew Simms; children: Calvin Shea, Wayne Simms, Wanda (Mohammed) Purrier, and Claudette (Ivan) Freake; precious grandchildren: Alexander (Marlee) Freake, Faith Freake (Mark Pelley), Paige and Emma Simms; special great-grandchildren who were her whole world, Ariana, Reegan, and Jaelynn Freake; brothers: George (Beverly) Shea, Ralph (Delphine) Shea, Norman (Bibi) Shea, and Douglas (Irene) Shea; sisters, Velma Tarrant and Doris Patterson, many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Resting at Families Funeral Home in Lewisporte with visitation on Tuesday from 7-9pm and Wednesday from 2-4 pm, visitation from 7-9pm will be held at the Salvation Army Church in Birchy Bay from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday at 2pm, with with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Birchy Bay.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Salvation Army Cemetery Fund.
Arrangements are under the care of Families Funeral Home, 9 Forward Drive in Lewisporte.
