Obituary of Shirley Castle
CASTLE, Shirley Georgina – age 91, of Stewiacke, passed away peacefully in The Mira, Truro, on January 26, 2019.
Born in Cooks Brook, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Emma (Kent) Benjamin. Shirley worked at Musquodoboit Hospital for several years and enjoyed this very much. She was a quiet and peace-loving woman. She did enjoy cards, dancing and spending quality time with her family and close friends. Shirley was a long-time member of Gays River United Church.
Shirley is survived by her children, Donald (Marjorie), Chaswood; Marion Wilcox, Dartmouth; Jerry (Helena), Wittenburg; Lee (Marilyn), Fletcher’s Lake; Phil (Darlene), New Glasgow; Kay Williams, Dartmouth; Perry, Middle Musquodoboit; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Jack; son, Alvin. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 1 pm Wednesday, January 30th until time of service at 2pm in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Rev. Nancy Ritchie officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. Burial at a later date in Gays River Cemetery.
