Roger Benoit
1924-2019
Bathurst – Roger Benoit, 94, formerly of
Bayview St., Bathurst, passed away on Monday January 28, 2019 at the
Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit,
Bathurst.
Born in Tracadie,
he was the son of the late Jean Baptiste and
Hélène (Comeau)
Benoit.
He was a former employee of Brunswick
Mines. He served in World War II with the Royal Canadian
Army in Canada and overseas and was a member of the Herman J. Good,
V.C. Br. 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion,
Bathurst.
He was
pre-deceased his wife, Lorenza (Thibodeau) Benoit in 1999 and is
survived by four
children:
Carol Benoit of Bathurst, Francine Amyotte
(François)of Edmonton, AB, Denis (Valery Bender) of Moose Jaw, MB
and Donald of Edmonton,
AB.
He will be sadly missed by his
grandchildren: Nancy, Nicole, Daniel, Erik, Kate, Tanner, Lacey,
Chabrie and Jéric. Great-grandchildren: Carson,
Aaron, Jayden, Abby, Madison, Braxton and
Gretta.
Several nieces
and nephews.
The family will
receive relatives and friends after 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2019
at Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel, Bathurst, from where the
Funeral Service will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Donations in
memory of Benoit may be made to a Robert L. Knowles Unit or a charity
of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the
care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com),
Bathurst.
