BRECHIN, Robert Douglas –
With heavy hearts, the family of Robert Douglas Brechin announce his passing on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the age of 86 in Burlington, Ontario, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s and Cancer. He leaves behind wife Edith (nee Rosart), who he loved to the essence of his soul for sixty-seven years. Those who will always treasure and remember his loving ways include children Gregory Brechin (Judy), Becky Brechin (Myat Htoon), Janice Bainbridge (Tom), Stuart Brechin, Denise Marck (Louise), and Bernadette Hagan. Grandchildren Robert, Scott, Sarah, Douglas, Michael, Andrew, Emily and Alexander were filled with his love and wisdom and miss him already. Bob was also a proud great-grandfather of four. This family man and civic minded accountant spent forty productive years at Dofasco traveling internationally in Export Development and retired from nineteen years as a City and Regional Alderman in Halton County. Business affiliations included chairing the Canadian Manufacturing Association in Exports, Canadian Institute for International Affairs, Canadian Exporters Association, Society of Management Accountants, and the Niagara Escarpment Committee.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Bob’s memory to the Parkinson Society of Canada or a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated.
