LANGILLE, Raymond E.

Raymond Emery Langille, 84 passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 3rd, 2019. Ray was born in River John on February 25th, 1934 to Emery and Isabel (Peel) Langille. After growing up on the Mountain Road, he moved to Toronto in 1955 and returned to Nova Scotia in 1972. Ray was a jack-of-all trades. From tire building at Goodyear, to driving an ambulance, to bartending, to working in the woods, to being a member of Labours International, to owning his own restaurant, to running a hobby farm, to owning a concrete business and everything else in between. Ray also enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves in 1953 and was proud of the years he served. He was a life-long member of St. George’s Presbyterian Church where he served on the Board of Managers and also became an Elder. He was an active member of the River John Lion’s Club since 1973, serving as King Lion several times and he was always happy to do the Bingo run with Buster. He was also proud to have been awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow from the Lions Club International Foundation for his Humanitarian Services. He was a member of the River John Fire Department, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 108, the North Shore Health Services (LFMH) Foundation and was on the Board for the North Shore Rec Centre. Ray was a guiding force for many achievements of the organizations he chose to devote his time to. Ray leaves behind his daughters, Louise (Greg) Dawson, Hamilton; Leona (Ray) Baillie, River John; Lisa Langille, Fredericton; and chosen son, Raymond (Doris) Langille, Poplar Hill; his loving grandchildren, Mike (Andrea Flores) Dawson; Chris (Kirsty) Dawson; Sean (Jennie Nijsse) Dawson; James (Ashley) LeGresley; Brittany LeGresley; Greg (Lori Levesque) Baillie; Christine (Paul) Richardson; Sarah (Alex Green) MacAllister, Jennifer (Ciaran Lane) MacAllister; Rachel MacAllister; Matthew (Emelyne Marshall) Langille; Andrew (Kara Weatherbie) Langille; his great-grandchildren, Sophia, Matthew, Leah, Maya, Madeleine and Charlie Dawson; Jaime and Jordyn LeGresley; Tristan Baillie; Myles, Mitchell and Morgan Richardson; and one great-great-grandson, Daxon Baillie Butler; also left behind are his sister, Shirley Davidson and many nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Shirley LeGresley; his half-brother, Elroy Langille; brother-in-law, Edward Davidson; and his beloved fur-buddy, Buster. Visitation will be held in St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John on Monday, January 7th, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 at 2:00pm. Graveside committal service will take place at a later date in Mountain Road Cemetery, River John. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mountain Road Cemetery (Box 69, River John) or to a charity of your choice. You may also choose to remember Ray by volunteering your time to better your community, spending time with family and friends or fulfilling a dream you have. We would like to extend sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Robert Bush and the staff at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche as well as the staff at Maplewood Manor, Tatamagouche for the excellent care they provided for our Dad. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
