Surrounded by his family, Nick passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2019 in his 74th year. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lina, and his 3 angels and their husbands (the sons he never had) Taya and Damien Garault, Nadia and Mike Bozzo, Liana and Paul Calleri. He was the most devoted Nonno to Lola, Adriano, Dario, Nico, Michaela and Isla. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Predeceased by his parents Giorgio and Evelina Cicchetti, father-in-law Amedeo Melatti and his brother-in-law Vittorio Paone. Survived by his sister in Italy, Laura Cicchetti, mother-in-law Antonia Melatti, sisters and brothers-in-law Anna and Robert, Adriana and Paul. He was adored by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends who will miss him dearly. Nick was a hard-working pipefitter/welder who served with Local 67 for over 40 years. Following his retirement in 2007, Nick enjoyed the winter months in Delray Beach, FL where he spent his days lounging on the beach. Family meant everything to Nick. He was the best Dad – the type of father that mowed your lawn while you were at work, started your car so it would be warm, and ensured you had one of his famous meals at least once a week. Dad’s last words to his 3 daughters were “I love you”. Every year he looked forward to the Formula One weekend in Montreal with his sons-in-law. His work ethic, kindness and concern of others are qualities that will live on forever. He was the life of every party and was always ready to make his famous “alio e olio”. We would like to thank everyone for their love and support including Nick Barbieri and the Thursday night Beamsville group, Dr. Hotte and his team at Juravinski Cancer Centre and the amazing staff at Juravinski and St. Peter’s Hospitals. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24th from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, Wm J. Markey Chapel, 947 Rymal Rd E. 905.574.0405. Vigil prayers at 8:30pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 25th at 11am at Annunciation of our Lord Parish, 280 Limeridge Rd W. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 254 Garner Rd W Ancaster. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Cancer Assistance Program (CAP). Online condolences at www.baygardens.ca
