Nettie Kauenhofen of Steinbach, formerly of Winnipeg passed away peacefully at Bethesda Regional Health Centre on Monday January 21, 2019, at the age of 93.
Nettie is survived by her sister Susan Fehr and brothers Henry (Helen), Peter (Linda), Ben (Susan), & John (Lenora) and sisters-in-law Agatha and Tina and many nieces and nephews.
Nettie was predeceased by her parents Bernard & Maria Kauenhofen, brothers Jake, Dave and Cornie, sisters Tina Bergen and Mary Braun and brothers-in-law Jake Braun and Ike Fehr.
Nettie spent her years working in the Dietary Department of the Municipal Hospitals in Winnipeg for 35 years. After her retirement she spent countless hours volunteering with seniors and for Child Evangelism, where she volunteered for 20 years.
Nettie loved to travel and enjoyed many vacations, travelling around Canada and the USA with friends and family. She especially enjoyed many of the road trips to Banff, Florida, Vancouver, Niagara Falls & New York.
Nettie stated on a few occasions that she indeed had been blessed with a “Good Life” and she was ready to be Home with her Savior.
We wish to thank the staff & residents at Cedarwood Housing for helping Nettie feel welcome in her new home this past August. Also thank you to the homecare aides, the Silver Lining Ladies and the Hospital Staff. A very special thank-you to Dr. Trinh for her excellent care and the attention she gave Nettie, and to Hanh & Tammy and the other ladies at Primary Care Pharmacy for always taking the time to love and care for Nettie.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with viewing one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
