Neil Thomas LeBlanc
February 16, 1941 – January 27, 2019
LeBlanc, Neil Thomas
Passed away, age 77, on January 27, 2019, in Dartmouth, following a lengthy decline. Born in Halifax on February 16, 1941, he was the second son of the late Emile and Agnes (Ryan) LeBlanc. One of nine children, he grew up in west end Halifax and attended St. Patrick’s High School. He liked to say he knew the city inside and out because he had delivered eggs door to door as a boy. He loved sports and was a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan. As an adult he discovered golf and he and his wife, Carole, spent many happy days with friends at Hartlen Point Forces Golf Club and, after retiring to the Valley, Paragon Golf and Country Club. He worked in finance for the federal government for over 30 years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his adored wife, Carole (Borden) and brother, Eric. He is survived by daughters Susan (Rob MacQueen), Dartmouth; and Linda (James John), Oakville, Ont.; grandchildren Rachel and Ben MacQueen and Megan John; brothers Paul (Shirley), Saulnierville; Thomas (Shirley), Lower Sackville; Fr. Stephen (Midland, Ont.); Alan (Rose), Dartmouth; sisters Nancy (John Landry), Middle Sackville; Yvonne (Fraser Macdonald) Mount Brydges, Ont.; Katherine (David Barss), Hammonds Plains; many nieces and nephews; best friend and brother-in-law, Grant Boudreau. Many thanks to the caring staff of Alderney Lane, Parkland at the Lakes, Dartmouth.
Visitation will take place 6-8pm Friday, February 1 at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 2 at JA Snow Funeral Home, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of choice.
