OBITUARY
Marie Elise Cecile Blatchford
September 28, 1935 – January 16, 2019
Cecile Blatchford, born September 28, 1935 in Willow Bunk Saskatchewan passed away peacefully into God’s arms on January 16, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta following a short courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves to treasure her memory her four children Beverley (Michael), Terry (Mervin), Darlene (Timothy), Donald (Kim); four grandchildren Kim Dale, Sandra Nichole, Jesse Robert, Bradley Allan; and one great grandchild Avalynn Elise.
Cecile was predeceased by her loving husband Donald ‘Dale’ Blatchford, who she loved unconditionally and without compromise. Dale and Cecile were able to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary in 2005. Cecile is also predeceased by her parents Annette and Fred Fortier; brother Andre, and twin brothers Hubert and Albert.
Cecile moved from town to town with her husband Dale while he worked for CP Rail until establishing a comfortable home for the family in 1969. She worked endlessly with no complaints, at a restaurant she purchased in 1971, living an incredible humble life. A trait that she passed through the generations.
After selling the restaurant in 1980, they moved to Assiniboia to work at the Pioneer Lodge. She loved spending time with friends and lending a helping hand when needed. Her favorite pass time was playing the slot machines, but always stuck to a limited budget that she set for herself, so it was done in enjoyment.
For the last 14 years she treasured her days and resided with her daughter Darlene (Tim) grandson Bradley, and pet dog Patches who welcomed her into their home and became a valued member of the family. Cecile treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Above all she loved all equally and was very proud of them. Mom, thank you for being you.
In keeping with Cecile’s request, there will be no funeral service. A graveside memorial will take place at a later date.
