It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
Lynne Anderson on Saturday, January 5th, 2019.
Lynne leaves to forever mourn her passing, sons Scott (Donna) McAthey, Mark (Laverne) McAthey and Glenn (Yvonne) McAthey from her first marriage with Bill, and her three granddaughters Kim, Kerry, and Amy. Also mourning her are friends, Donna, Maureen, and Ed. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth in 2000.
Lynne was born May 21st, 1935 in Barrie, Ontario, the second daughter of Reverend Bill and Edith Batty, a little sister for Ruth. Lynne was athletic, enjoying badminton, track and field, and skating in her youth. Due to her father’s work, the family moved many times while she was young. When he was serving overseas with the RCAF during the Second World War the family resided in Toronto, Ontario, then transferred to Edmonton in 1951.
In the late 1950s, then again in the early 1970s, Lynne worked as a dental assistant. She also worked as an executive secretary.
In 1973, Lynne met Frank Anderson, the love of her life. They were married in 1976 and together, they provided a loving and nurturing home for the boys. They had an amazing marriage until Frank’s untimely passing in 1983.
Widowed for 35 years, Lynne became a loving matriarch and hub of a close knit family. She was the perfect Mom; beautiful on the inside and out. A wonderful role model for her family, she was the personification of class, kindness and generosity.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the General Hospital Hospice Unit for their care and compassion.
As per Lynne’s wishes, there will not be a funeral. Donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute in her name.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Lynne Anderson Maiden Batty of Edmonton
