Lajos Lou Bujdoso December 1 1937 January 9 2019

Peacefully our Papa went to heaven on Wednesday evening, January 9, 2019 surrounded by his family and their love. Lou was born in Lajosmizse, Hungary on December 1, 1937. Lou came from Hungary to Canada in September 1958 to be with his soon to be wife, Marika. They married November 15, 1958 and enjoyed a wonderful life together in their new found country and raised 3 children. They travelled extensively and were very active in their community. Marika passed away on April 9, 1996. Later Lou met Angie in July 1996 and they were married on December 4, 2004. They enjoyed a great life together travelling and living each day to the fullest.
Lou travelled back to his homeland of Hungary on numerous occasions and vacationed with his daughter, Marika and his son-in-law, Frank at the family residence, “Palmer Springs” in Palm Springs, CA. Our father loved sports of all kinds and he was very competitive, as all his friends realized, and never knew when to quit. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis and soccer. He will always be remembered for throwing some of the best tennis parties. He enjoyed watching many sports on TV including hockey. He would have made a bad referee as he seldom would agree with an icing or offside call during a hockey game.
Lou spent his whole life working out in the gym. He was an avid boxer and enjoyed training boxers and also spent time promoting professional boxing in the old Memorial Arena. He spent time coaching at the London Boxing Club, the Victoria Athletic Association and the Jaycee Boxing Club. He also spent time over the years training junior hockey players who wanted to improve their “on ice presence”.
Lou semi-retired in his later years, but always managed to keep busy taking on construction projects and helping his friends when needed. He enjoyed spending his weekends watching his grandson, Koby, play hockey games and travelled a lot with Koby to many hockey tournaments. It was at this point in time that he was given the name “Fun Lou” by many of the travelling hockey parents who always had a great time with him on the road. Lou really enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons with his granddaughters, Vayda and Harper. They always shared tremendous love and joy. During the last year of his life he really enjoyed his daily FaceTime sessions with his granddaughters.
Predeceased by his first wife, Maria Magdolna Bujdoso (1996); Lou is survived by his wife Angie and children, Marika (Frank), Ginger, Louis Jr. (Jodi) and his grandchildren, Koby, Vayda, Harper and Braedon; his sisters, Gizella (Zoli), Iren; brothers, Isvan (Agi) and Balint and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 4040 Nelthorpe St. Victoria, BC on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. After the burial a reception will take place in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, located beside Royal Oak Burial Park at 4665 Falaise Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canucks Autism Network, 1788 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V6J 1V6 (canucksautism.ca) or to KidSport Greater Victoria.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
