John Francis Kelly
1945-2019
It is with profound sadness that the family of John Francis
Kelly announces his sudden passing at home on January 5th, 2019. Born
in Saint John on January 19th, 1945 to James and Mary (Vautour)
Kelly.
Survived by his loving wife of 49 years Eleanor (McCurdy),
sons Christian (Renata Ward) and their sons Elliot and Rhys of
Winnipeg, MB and Nicholas (Sarah Kelly) and their children Quinn and
Nate of Winnipeg, MB. Sisters, Agnes Armstrong and Margaret Logan
(Glenn),Brothers William (Nuan), Paul (Brenda Lynn), Daniel (Eva) and
Thomas, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by two
brothers, David (Lynn) and infant George
Raymond.
John was a graduate of St. Malachy’s Memorial High
School and obtained his Chartered Accounting designation in Nova
Scotia and practiced in New Brunswick.
Immensely proud of receiving his Queen Scout Level from Queen
Elizabeth II, he continued his involvement with Scouts as both a Scout
leader and provincial treasurer. He also served as President of the
Board of Victoria Order of Nurses (VON); President of TelAid; as well
as serving on the finance committee of St. Peter’s Parish
Council.
He had a sharp wit and great sense of humor. His lifelong
appreciation and knowledge of music has been passed onto his
sons.
He was a genuinely good man, cherished as a son, brother,
husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be greatly
missed.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home at
111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick on
Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 10th, 2019
at Holy Redeemer Parish located at 316 Somerset Street at
11:00am. For those who wish, remembrance may be made to
Romero House.
