Dunphy, James Edward “Jimmie” – 93 of Tatamagouche, passed away January 19, 2019 in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in River John, he was the son of the late William R. and Rhoda A. (Heighton) Dunphy. Jimmie grew up in Louisville and married his childhood sweetheart, Thelma and shared 73 years of marriage and raising their six children. During his working years, he logged, trucked and operated his own heavy equipment business. He was a sincere, hard working man with strong values, many skills, a creative mind and a keen eye for detail. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found in the barn with his Percheron horses which he had a passion for or building hitch wagons for shows throughout the Maritimes. Often, he would take his grandchildren along to the exhibitions and these were very special times with wonderful memories made. After retirement, he could often be seen puttering around his shop working on a project in which he would proudly show off after completion. He prided himself on a job well done. He remained motivated and busy with new projects and with the love and support of his entire family, VON, and his physicians, he was able to remain at home where he wanted to be until his last days. Surviving are, his wife, Thelma Mae (Langille); daughter, Phyllis (Ross) Lepper; sons, Ron (Beth) and Brian (Sharon); many grand children great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; daughters-in-law, Vivian and Florence; sister, Marie (Charlie) Brown; brother-in-law, Bill MacDonald; many nieces and nephews and extended family. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by sons, Donald, Clayton and David; sisters, Jean Heighton and husband, Everett, Ida Byrnes and husband, Donald and Jessie MacDonald. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. A time to honor Jimmie’s life will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, January 27th in Cripps’ Hall, 473 Upper River John Rd., Tatamagouche with family memories being read at 3:30 p.m. No funeral service to be held.
