George Andrew Saunders, 77, passed away on Saturday, January 26th, 2019. George died peacefully, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 27th, 1941, in Goderich, Ontario, George lived in Stratford his entire life. He was a graduate of Stratford Central Secondary School. He worked as a photographer for the Stratford Beacon Herald, a City Police officer, a Lead Hand at Cooper-Bessemer, an inventory controller at Krug Furniture and a maintenance coordinator at Blackstone/Valeo Industries. Semi-retired, he continued to work as a salesman for Best Windows in Stratford. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley, his son Rick (Carolyn), his daughter Kathy (Pat), his granddaughter Jessica (Aaron), Bram and Alina, his great-grandchildren, Zachary, Gavin, Phillip, Andrew, Sean and Lauren, including many nieces and nephews. George was the 11th of 12 children. He was an avid photographer, who was never in any pictures, because he was always taking them. He loved to work outdoors, golfing and spending time with friends and family. George was a lifelong Toronto Maple Leaf fan, he also volunteered for 22 seasons as a coach for Stratford Rotary hockey. Thanks to Dr. Sean Blaine, nurses Kim and Juliet and the entire staff of the STAR Family Health Team, Dr. Eric Thomas, Kendra and the other nurses with Care Partners.
