It is with great sadness that the family of David K. Dickinson announce his passing on January 14, 2019 at Health Science North in Sudbury. David was born in Bolton, England and immigrated in 1978 to Canada where he worked for a newspaper company prior to beginning his banking career where he enjoyed many years spent serving customers. David also served on the Kirkland and District Hospital Board of Trustees, the Rotary Club, Kirkland Lake Crime Stoppers and the Lions Club. David loved to work in his garden and had a great love for reading. David is predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Kenneth Dickinson, mother in-law Shirley Turyk-Johnson, brother Keith, sister Angela Openshaw, his aunt Minnie and Uncle George.
Left to mourn are his loving wife Shirley, stepdaughter Veronica Harwood, sister Sue (Graham) Bridge, brother Ian (Jane) Dickinson, sister-in-law Ros Dickinson, brother in-law David Openshaw, brother Steven (Denise) Dickinson, sister in-laws Mary Vanderberg, Anita McIntyre, brother in-laws Steve Turyk, George Turyk, as well as very dear friends (family) Cathy and Richard LeClerc, plus several nieces and nephews. At this time the family would love to extend a big Thank You to the attending paramedics, the team in the KDH emergency department, the KDH staff in the ICU department and the ICU staff at Health Science North. As per David’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. If you wish, you can make donations to Advocates for Northern Animals, cheques can be dropped off or mailed to Northern Bargains (49 Government Road West, Kirkland Lake, Ontario P2N 2E3) in honour of his memory.
