Merleau, Cheryl (nee Donnelly)
Peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family on December 31, 2018 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 70. Cheryl was the beloved wife of Michael Merleau. Loving mother to Christine Jennifer Golden (Jim), David Patrick Merleau (Hannah), Natasha Charolette Merleau-Donnelly. Cheryl was the cherished Grandmother to Will, Griffin and Etta-Rose. Cheryl will be lovingly remembered by her sister Maureen Donnelly (Jerry). Cheryl was predeceased by brother Michael Patrick Donnelly and her parents Charles Edgar Donnelly and Helen Donnelly (nee Halverson). Cheryl’s legacy was being a childrens’ advocate. She was a paediatric nurse, raised her own kids and treated their friends like her own. When her kids grew up, she moved on to listening and supporting the youth in Callander. She was “the nice lady with the fancy nails” who worked at VIDEO FEVER. Cheryl was instrumental in the pursuit of the playground equipment at the waterfront and a skateboard park at the community center. Cheryl was awarded the volunteer of the year award for her dedication and commitment to her community. In keeping with Cheryl’s wishes, cremation has taken place at Whispering Pines Funeral Homes Crematorium. The family will receive visitors at St. Alphonsus Church in Callander on January 12, 2019 from 11 am until memorial mass at 12 pm. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jinnah and Dr.Pitre, PSW’s Nancy, Margo, Monique, VON nurse Cheryl and the many others, for their care and compassion during this difficult time. A special thanks to the nurses who provided palliative care for mom on her last day.
