Dad was born in Innisfail, Alberta. He was the eldest of seven siblings, he helped care for his younger siblings & worried over them like a parent. Dad & Mom married when both of them were 18 years old, they were married for 62 years. They had 2 daughters, me and my older sister Debbie. Dad lived in Alberta until his late 20’s, then moved with our family to Campbell River, BC.
Dad was raised as a farm boy & many of the morals he learnt as a child & young man carried with him to adulthood. Dad enjoyed his friends & was always willing to help someone down on their luck. My Dad was happiest surrounded by family, sharing time together.
Dad worked for many years as a fabricator welder. He was very good at his trade & could problem solve to repair daunting jobs on the side of a mountain when logging equipment broke down. Dad raced stock cars for many years in Oyster River. Our entire family would go to the races every Saturday & cheer Dad on. He won many trophies & earned the number 5 on his race car. Dad enjoyed the water & fishing. Many nights were spent camping on the islands off Vancouver Island with Mom & friends. Both Dad & Mom enjoyed their 5 acres in Black Creek. They loved gardening, raising their own livestock & housing horses for the daughters & granddaughters.
Once retired, Dad & Mom spent many winters in Arizona sharing new experiences & making new friends along the way. Both my parents enjoyed reminiscing about the experiences & places they had seen along their travels.
Dad was not the easiest man to live with, but he loved his family very much. Dad was loved by his family & will be sadly missed by his one & only, wife Marian. Daughters Debbie (Don, gone but not forgotten) & Lori (Cam). Grandchildren Bobbi-Jo (Allan), Tami (Gord), Brian (Janice) & Craig (Nicole). Great grandchildren Madison, Hudson, Rosalyn & Fiona. Extended family, grandchildren Jodie (Steve) & Kyle (Sandy). Great grandchildren Rachel, Matteo, Luca & Morgan.
Dad, we are all doing your job now, we are taking care of each other. We miss you & know you are at peace having loved & been loved. This is the greatest gift in life we can enjoy.
