William « Bill » MacKay Sr

William MacKay Sr died peacefully in Bridge Street Retirement Residence of Thursday, November 22nd, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was 88 years old. He was the first of 4 boys of Earle & Laura MacKay and grew up near Carrying Place where he met and married Barbara Roblin.
A local high school principal (BCI&VS, Centennial, Moira) for much of his career, he remains known to many Bellevillians as ‘Mr. MacKay’. A long-time Rotarian, he is a Rotary Past District Governor, Past President of the Belleville Rotary Club and a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.
Survived by Barbara, the love of his life and wife of 66 years, and brothers James (late Wilma) of Owen Sound and Harry (Margaret) of Ottawa. Predeceased by his brother Donald. Dad to Bill and daughter in law Cory of Foxboro, Grandpa to Taylor & Ryan. Peggy of Kingston, David of Toronto & Valerie and son in law Donald of Guelph, Grandpa to Laura. His family is grateful for the attentive care that was provided and received.
Arrangements entrusted to the BURKE FUNERAL HOME, 150 Church St., Belleville (613-968-6968). Visitation at the church prior to the service from 9:30 – 11:00 am. Memorial Service will be held at Eastminster United Church on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at 11 am. Reception to follow. Niche entombment at the Belleville Cemetery.
