Vincent Sterling O’Donnell passed away peacefully on January 1, 2018 at the age of 83, lovingly surrounded by his family at the Palliative Care Unit of the Miramichi Regional Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Willa Mae (nee Tozer) O’Donnell, infant son James, infant brother Benjamin, sister Patricia and daughter-in-law Jane. Left to mourn are his loving wife and best friend of 28 years Margot;sons: James of Head of Jeddore, NS, Robert of Courtenay, BC; daughters: Iris (Dean) Collins of Gander, NL, Angela of Nanaimo, BC; sisters: Mary Kerr of Toronto, ON, Betty Mullin of Red Bank, NB, Ann Blackmore of Miramichi, NB and Lillian O’Donnell of Toronto, ON; grandchildren:Angela (Ben) Chen of Coquitlam, BC, Sean O’Donnell of Red Deer, AB, Stephen (Amanda) O’Donnell of Belleville, ON, Matt (Katherine) O’Donnell of Edmonton, AB;and two very special great grandchildren Colin and Chloe Chen. Also left to mourn is the mother and grandmother of his children Muriel Reeves of Nanaimo, BC. Vincent Sterling was born in Newcastle, NB. He left at the age of 20 to join the RCMP. He was a member of the RCMP for 40 years with one posting in Cape Breton and all others in Newfoundland. Vincent Sterling was a Staff Sergeant at the Gander International Airport when he retired in 1994. He lived in Lewisporte, NL for a several years before returning to the Miramichi, N.B. in 2003. He was a strong, disciplined, caring and a very quiet man that never had a bad word to say about anyone. His enjoyment since he retired included his love for gardening, fishing, hunting, boating and the great outdoors. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Palliative Care Unit of the Miramichi Hospital. Please note there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery, Millerton, NB at a later time. In lieu of flowers, in Vincent’s memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA – Miramichi.
