In Loving Memory
Theresia Fic –
February 16, 1930 – July 20, 2018
Theresia was born in Brunssum, Holland and was one of ten children. There she married her loving husband of 66 years, Edmund Fic. They set sail on the M.S. Sibajak in April 1952 and made their way to Canada where they made their home.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Theresia in her 88 years; work hard and don’t complain or cry about it because she did not like « sucks », eat chocolate whenever you can and lots of it, why do things yourself if Eddie can do it for you, laugh often, make sure your guests have a drink and are welcomed into your home, don’t worry about the future because » a lot of water has to pass under the bridge » before then and save your money as there is no need to travel because « there is a tree here and a tree there » so you might as well stay here!
As mentioned, Theresia had a very strong work ethic and worked hard during her life ( and loved when everyone around her worked hard too). She supported Edmund when he managed apartment buildings, then babysitting the neighbour’s children and for 20 years working at St. Michael’s hospital with the nuns. When she retired she did not stop; she took care of her elderly neighbour Trudy Warner.
She was loved and supported by her children, Monika Fic (Kym) and Robert Fic and her grandchildren, Shayne Fic and Kaytlynn Pearn (Kyle). The children of her twin sister, Lies Theunissen, Carin Theunissen and Yvonne Huynen were very kind to her over the years. She was also loved by many other family members too many to mention. She kept in touch with her family in Holland with many visits back home and in her later years over the phone, especially with her sisters Mimi and Paula.
Theresia had a wonderful sense of humour and kept her friends, neighbours and family laughing. She will be missed.
