Tanya Degen

Tanya Marie Degen, late of Calgary, AB went to be with her lord, unexpectantly while at home due to illness on May 22, 2018 at the young age of 40 years. Tanya grew up on a family farm in the Tiger Lily community and attended school in Barrhead, AB. After graduation, Tanya moved to Calgary and received her bachelor’s Degree in fine arts from the Alberta College of Art and Design and followed this up with a Degree in Business Management from University of Lethbridge. Tanya spent most of her career working for the University of Calgary, for the faculty of Law and enjoyed her job immensely and just recently got her 10-year award, plus received a challenging promotion. Tanya was involved with the Center Street Church in Calgary and volunteered at the MEOW Foundation due to her fondness of cats.
Tanya is survived by her mother Anne Degen of Barrhead, AB, Brother Sid Degen (Phyllis) of Wizard Lake, AB, Nephew Travis Degen of Edmonton, AB, Nieces Cheyenne Degen of Devon, AB, and Amanda Klopstra (Roy) Leduc, AB, Great Niece Alexa Klopstra of Leduc, AB, Uncle Oscar Degen (Gladys) of Barrhead AB, Helga Wagner (Bob) of Barrhead, AB, Irene Frieze (Len) of Grande Prairie, AB, Edie Romanchuck (Rob) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Trudy Watson (Allan Wright) of Edmonton, AB and numerous cousins and family along with many dear friends and co-workers. Tanya was pre-deceased by her father Paul Degen, Grand Parents Fred and Hulda Kufeld, Uncle Arvid Degen, Aunt Lily Ruhl (Raymond) and godfather Jeff Ruhl.
A Memorial Service will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Barrhead Alberta Friday June 01, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
