In Memory of Stella
STELLA MARGARET (Johnston)
WILKINSON, 90 of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 11th at Joseph Brant Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Stella was born in Hamilton and a graduate of Westdale Secondary School prior to attending McMaster University where in addition to thriving academically, Stella represented McMaster in basketball, volleyball and badminton over her varsity career. She was a recipient of the Honour M award for athletics in 1948 and in 1949 she won the prestigious Edna Guest Trophy. Family and friends were Stella’s passion. Stella survived her beloved husband of 58 years Gordon Wilkinson. Stella and Gordon lived an active lifestyle spending much of their life in Muskoka on Lake Rosseau and were founding members of Holimont ski club in Ellicottville N.Y. where they skied for over 40 years.
Stella is survived by her children Warren Wilkinson of Muskoka, Donna Gardner (Bruce) of Burlington and Wayne Wilkinson (Dawn) of Seattle.
Stella was the proud grandmother of her loving grandchildren Brianne & Darren Gardner, Connor & Taylor Wilkinson, as well as step-grandchildren Max & Sam Kader. She will also be missed by her nephew Robin Blakely, the Price family as well as her loving dog Oakley.
There will be a celebration of life on July 11th , 2019 from 6-8 pm at Dodsworth & Brown Funeral home in Burlington. The family is waiting until all the grandchildren can attend as that is what Stella would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can made in her name to OSPCA or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
