St Elmo Gordon Tupper 19202018

St. Elmo Gordon Tupper
1920-2018
St. Elmo Gordon Tupper – 98, of Kentville, passed
away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in the Veteran’s Unit of
the Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Head of
St. Margaret’s Bay, Halifax County, he was a son of the late
Charles and Flossie (Fader) Tupper. Our wonderful father, with his
warm smile and twinkling blue eyes, had the most giving spirit and was
always asking what he could do for you when you visited him even right
up to the very end. He was a Veteran of the Second World war, having
enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army, serving in the Dental Corps from
1940-1946, and was stationed in Yarmouth, Halifax, Cornwallis,
Aldershot and Stadacona, where he was in charge of the clinic on North
Street. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No.
6, Kentville as well as the last surviving charter member of the
Kentville Lions Club (chartered in 1949). Elmo was community minded
and was involved with Cubs and Scouts, volunteered for the CNIB and
the Canadian Diabetes Association, delivered Meals-on-Wheels and
donated 50 pints of blood. He retired after many years as a shoe
salesman with Bata Shoes and Discount Shoe Land. After losing his
wife, Marion, 41 years ago, Elmo devoted his life to church, his
family, friends, extended family and all of our fur babies. He was
loved and respected by all who knew him and was blessed with many
wonderful friends, including his hunting and fishing buddies. He
always enjoyed playing 45’s and was able to do that right up
to the end. He would always accompany those who visited him to the
door to say goodbye and would then look out the window and wave as you
drove away. He had incredible strength, was a hard worker and provider
who taught his family the true meaning of love and provided guidance
and assistance when needed. He was a gentle and sweet man and a hero
to us all. He is survived by two daughters, Judith (Bill) Young,
Wolfville; Donna (Doug) Mailman, Kentville; a son, Kevin (Beverley),
Quispamsis, NB; a sister-in-law, Carol Smith, Ontario; two
brothers-in-law, Albert Smith, Ontario and Arnold Lemmon, Centreville;

Kentville; Christopher (Kathy) Mailman, AB; Kari (Curtis) Gibson,

grandchildren, Rebecca and Hayley Mailman, Kentville; Jaden and Ashton
