Obituary Overview
Simon Badea
It is with sad hearts that we announce that Simon (Simion) Badea of Victoria Harbour, Ontario passed away quietly on Monday August 13th at Hillcrest Village Care Centre in Midland. He was 88.
Simon was born on January 6th, 1930 in Transylvania, Romania. Instead of living a simple life on the family farm he left home at an early age and travelled through different parts of Europe seeking fun and adventure. He eventually made his way to Trieste, Italy where he met the love of his life (and spouse of 53 years) Viorica Krajnjan. They decided to immigrate to Canada in 1961 to build a better future for their young family. They settled in Mississauga and together they raised their children Kosta (Jean), Tony (Vicki), Nina and John.
Even though he worked hard every day as a welder he loved nothing more than spending his leisure time camping and fishing in Victoria Harbour on the weekend. Through the years he was able to upgrade the tent to a cottage and then to the home where he spent his retirement years.
Simon was known as a close friend, loving father and devoted husband. He will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his wife, Viorica and is survived by his children, five grandchildren (Michelle, Andrea, Jesse, Adam, Nicole) and three great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing nurses, staff and doctors of Hillcrest. A visitation and service will be held at Nicholls Funeral Home in Midland, Ontario on Saturday, August 18th at 2 PM. Memorial donations may be made in Simon’s name to the Canada Parkinson Society.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Simon Badea 2018.
