Age 76 of Dartmouth passed away November 10, 2018 at the Admiral Long Term Care Center in Westphal. Sandra was born on March 24, 1942 in Belleville, Ontario and was the daughter of the late Pembroke and Dorothy (Clark) Fowler. Sandra is survived and will be deeply missed by her husband of 56 years Malcolm Everett; children Stephen (Johanna) Everett, Pamela (Donald) Ellis and William Everett; grandchildren Bryan (Danielle), Colin, Devin, Rachel and Darren; and brother Robert (Paulette) Fowler.
Sandra dedicated much of her life to education. She attended the Teachers College in Truro and taught in Windsor, Digby, Annapolis Royal and Lawrencetown. She later went on to serve as the Chairperson of the Dartmouth School Board, Chairperson of the Amalgamated Halifax/Dartmouth School Board and President of the Nova Scotia School Board Association where she championed many causes to benefit those who needed it such as the breakfast program and the daycare for young mothers to continue their education.
Sandra was very active in federal and provincial politics serving as campaign manager for numerous elections and was a staunch advocate for registering people to vote. Sandra’s passions included travel, figure skating, bowling, reading and her family. She was a proud Nova Scotian who served her community throughout her lifetime.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm., Thursday, November 15th at the First Baptist Church in Dartmouth, Rev. Martin Zwicker officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow in the church vestry. Interment will be Friday, November 16th at 1 pm at the Garden of Peace Cemetery in Victoria Beach, Annapolis County. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dartmouth or the First Baptist Church Food Bank.
