Forever In Our Hearts
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, cousin and friend. Bob was born on September 23, 1931 in Abernethy SK, and passed away at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 86 years, with family by his side.
The youngest of five children, Bob was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Annie McCall; sister Jean; brothers Burton and William; brothers-in-law Walter Large and Norman Tisdal; sisters-in law Lizzie and Marie.
Bob is survived by the love of his life Edna (nee Walters); sons Rodney (Liz) and Shawn (Rosanne); grandchildren Shauntel (Jason), Sarah (Kelly), Laura (Quenton), Kirsten (Nathan), Derrick (Leah), Jackie (Regan) and Bryce (Jocelyn);great grandchildren Maike, Aubry, Elijah, Kara, Cruz, Alex, Julia, Jace, Declan, Lydia and Freya. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth (Marie), sisters-in-law Florence Tisdale, Maureen (Ian) Becket; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
At 16 years of age Bob went to Kitchener Ontario with a friend to work in a furniture factory.
He returned to Saskatchewan in 1949 and began working for the Department of Highways. In 1954, he started work at the Regina Transit System.
Bob retired from the City Transit in February 1987 with family and friends joining him for his “Last Run”. With encouragement from his sister-in-law Florence, he took up golfing after retirement and enjoyed the sport for the next 30 years until his health declined.
Throughout the years Bob and Edna took numerous trips across Canada as well to Mesa Arizona, Bermuda, Dominican, Mexico, Europe, and Hawaii. They also enjoyed four cruises.
Spending time with his family was very important to him, especially with his boys, who played many cribbage games with him.
Many thanks for the kind and loving care from all the staff at the General Hospital, Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Grace Hospice.
A CELEBRATION OF BOB’s life will be held at St. James United Church, 4506 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to St. James United Church or to Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK S4R 8P6.
