OBITUARY
Richard Ralph Journeay
April 30, 1918 – March 2, 2018
Richard Ralph Journeay of Weymouth passed way in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, DVA Unit in Middleton just short of his 100th birthday on March 2, 2018, the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born in Weymouth on April 30, 1918 he was a son of the late Charles and Laliah (Smith) Journeay.
He served as a Seaman in the Merchant Navy in WWII. After the war he worked on Mosquito airplanes in Goose Bay. Richard led an interesting life working in Labrador, Manitoba and British Columbia as a heavy duty diesel mechanic where he was well respected at his job. He was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Branches throughout Canada. Richard loved the ocean and ships.
He is survived by daughters, Sharon (Norm) Schwartz, Dawn (Alfred) Chan; two granddaughters, Leslie Schwartz (Leigh) and their daughter, Lauran; Crystal Schwartz (Brendon) and their daughter Leia; also many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Blanche (Filleul) Journeay; infant daughter, Charlene Jill; sister Catherine; brothers, Foster and twins, Gerald and Harold.

Richard was looking forward to turning 100, so join us for a legion service followed by celebration of life service on what would be his 100th Birthday at 11 am on April 30, 2018 from Jayne’s Funeral Home, Weymouth with Rev. Laura McCue to preside with interment in St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery, Weymouth North.
